SECTBO ICC benefit day; 2021 IRC transition from the 2015 IRC

This seminar will assist participants in implementing the transition from the 2015 IRC to the 2021 IRC. It will include relevant changes in the 2018 IRC. This interactive training will focus on the key changes presented in the participant material. Knowledge review questions will provide opportunity for participants to discuss and consider the changes.

During this training, participants will be listening to lecture and engaging in class discussion and exercises

Objectives

Upon completion, participants will be better able to:
Identify the key differences between the 2015 IRC, 2018 IRC, and the 2021 IRC.

Explain the differences between the current and previous editions.

Apply the code requirements for design, plan review and inspection.

Gil Rossmiller’s Bio

Having been in the construction industry for over 40 years, Gil bring a hands-on perspective to building code compliance. In 1994 he started his building code compliance career as a building inspector then plans examiner and served as the Chief Building Official for Parker, Colorado from 2003-2016. Gil has been active in building code development. He served on the International Residential Code / Plumbing and Mechanical code development committee for the 2009 and 2012 editions of the IRC. The International Commercial Energy Code development committee for the 2015 IECC, 2018 IECC. The Residential Energy Code Development committee for the 2021and 2024 IECC and currently is on the ICC Code Correlation Committee. Gil was honored in 2012 with the first Energy Code Champion award given by The Institute for Market Transformation. Along with his current plans examining and inspection duties Gil has provided education for several organizations. International Code Council, Colorado Chapter ICC Educational Institute, EduCode, Region III, Washington Association of Building Officials, Johnson County Contractor Licensing Dept. and Arizona Building Officials.
